This past weekend, my 8 yr. old nephew was sent to his room and was told to read for the rest of the day as punishment because earlier he knocked over a planter with his bike and broke it.

Apparently, he could hear his friends playing outside, and of course - that would be torture for any kid. He cried and cried until finally he wrote a note and slipped it under the door to the hallway:

" Dear Mom and Dad, tomorrow I'm leaving.
Thank you for feeding me.
I love you.
Good bye
Michael"
